The Bible contains several chilling stories that speak to the darker aspects of the human soul and the supernatural realm. The most terrifying is the account of a man possessed by a legion of demons who lived among tombs. Deception lurks in the tale of Ananias and Sapphira, who lied to the Holy Spirit. We find a haunting warning against hypocrisy in the story of Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus with a kiss. But perhaps the most sobering are Jesus’ warnings of eternal loss, where He describes people crying, “Lord, Lord,” only to hear, “I never knew you—depart from me.”
