Church on Mission
The church isn't supposed to just stay. The church is commissioned to go.

Most of us have heard the term "Great Commission." The Great Commission is found in Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Here's my question: Where did the phrase "Great Commission" come from? And why is it so great?

This Sunday, we will launch a new sermon series exploring what the Great Commission is and what makes it great. I can't wait to see you there . . . it's going to be great!

Sometimes, the hardest part about going is actually mustering up the momentum to go. Part of Newton's first law is "a body at rest stays at rest." This describes the early church. They stayed in Jerusalem, but forgot they were called to go into Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. This Sunday, we will look at how the Lord "encouraged" the early church to move forward and how they were able to lean into the second part of Newton's First Law. Join us as we learn how to be "a body (of Christ) in motion that stays in motion."

This week we have the privilege of hearing from Abdiel Rocha of the Bethshean Mexico Mission. He shares not only how he got into ministry, but also how the Lord called him back to Mexico and the joys and challenges of the work in Mexico.

We all have been commissioned to go. It isn't just the job of a paid preacher or evangelist, but everyone of us to tell others about Jesus. And we don't have to do it to the masses. The Lord cares about the one! Let us follow the example of Phillip as he went to the Ethiopian eunuch.
