This Sunday we will unpack, probably, one of the most famous parables in all of the Gospels. The Parable of the Lost Son or Prodigal Son is a story that captures the very essence of God's incredible grace. And to top it all off, this parable also has the stunning ability to allow each of us to see ourselves in this story. In fact, the story of the Prodigal Son is our story. So join us this Sunday as we study this fantastic parable.
In Luke 13, Jesus describes the Kingdom of God to his audience. One would think that Jesus would choose huge, monolithic type structures or some type of glorious ornate objects to capture the essence of the Kingdom of God. However, Jesus chooses two of the smallest items to describe the power of God's Kingdom, the mustard seed and yeast. This Sunday, we will attempt to decipher why Jesus chose these two tiny objects to describe the power of God.
This Sunday, we will continue our series in the book of Luke. We will unpack an incredible story from Jesus that reminds us that we need to make sure that we are "rich towards God." What does that mean? Join us Sunday as we unpack this passage and discover what it looks like to be rich towards God.
Who is your neighbor and what is your duty to your neighbor? It's a tough question, one that Jesus asked in the parable of the Good Samaritan. This Sunday, we will unpack what it means to love with our head and to love with our heart. The message will be given by Gerardo Mancilla, a former intern with Art in MC3's student ministry.
So how is your heart? As Jesus scanned the crowd that was about to hear His message about the Kingdom of Heaven, there was no doubt that He knew not everyone would hear or even receive His words. Perhaps this is why Jesus looks at the disciples and tells them the parable of the sower. Jesus says our hearts are like soil. Some people are ready to hear God's Word, but others aren't. This Sunday we will talk about how we can be ready to hear and lean into God's Word.
Jesus loved to speak to the crowds in parables. Parables held the crowd's attention and at the same time taught them some incredible godly lessons. Movies can be modern-day parables, so over the next few weeks, we will use movie clips to introduce 6 parables of Jesus from the book of Luke. This week we will highlight how we can build a faith that can withstand any trial or storm that we may encounter.
