Have you ever "unfollowed" someone on social media? Maybe they posted something with which you didn't agree or just couldn't support. Jesus encounters a young man, who, at first, seems excited to follow Jesus, but when Jesus shares with him the cost of following, this young man walks away and unfollows Jesus. This Sunday we will discover what it looks like to unfollow Jesus and how we can keep from making this mistake
This Sunday, we will unpack the reality of what it really means to follow Jesus. Some believe and even others may teach that life with Jesus will automatically fix our lives and usher us into a world of bliss. But this is not what Jesus teaches us.
What we see in scripture is that there IS a cost to following Him. And yet, what we will discover this Sunday is that, while there is a cost to following Jesus, there is a greater cost to NOT following Him. So invite a friend to join you as we study this important passage of scripture.
This is an incredible invitation. Jesus extends this invitation to ordinary average people. He did not go to the highly educated, He did not go to those living in Park Avenue, He did not go to the most influential and famous in Jerusalem. He went to the “other-side of the Tracks,” He went to Galilee to look for followers. He chose blue-collar fishermen like Simon and Andrew, James and John.
